Welcome to Ryedale u3a - situated in North Yorkshire, a beautiful area with Moors, Dales, Wolds, Saxon churches, Minsters, Abbeys, Priories, and two ruined castles, whilst near to both the coast and the cities of York and Ripon.
Our members are from all over the Ryedale area, covering 575 sq. miles, with our major towns being Malton, Norton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.
The National u3a website has lots of information and links to other local sites.

We've been through the University of Youth and the University of Life
Now we are enjoying the University of our Third Age.

The u3a is open to those no longer in full-time work, offering the opportunity to develop your interests, make new friends and have fun!
We currently have just over 350 members (April 2026), with around 80-90 attending our monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of the month, and up to 20 or so at our three monthly coffee mornings, which are held on alternatingThursday mornings in Malton, Pickering and Kirkbymoorside from 10am till 12noon - see Meetings page for more details.
Why not come and meet us? If you are looking for a leisure activity with a learning bias - give us a go!

We have around 35 interest groups, varying from bird watching to play reading to Taiji, offering something for everyone in a sociable way, and all using the skills and enthusiasm of volunteer members. We are always happy to help members set up a new interest group if there is a subject not covered that they are interested in pursuing or if a group is already full. See Groups page for more information. You are welcome to attend one of our groups or meetings on two occasions before joining.
